Shpresa Programme – Hope
Shpresa Programme is an active user-led organisation that advances the education and training of the Albanian speaking people in the UK, so as to enable them to take full and active roles in their communities. Shpresa:
- provide advice, help and support so that our community orientate, settle and gain access to education, training and employment, as well as fully participate and play an active role to the Big Society
- have a board of trustees, 75 % of whom are from our community. Other trustees have joined the board due to the expertise they have in their field. Shpresa currently have two full time staff, 4 part time and six sessional staff.
- have a large team of volunteers, usually between 35 and 45 volunteers each year. They are mostly from the Albanian community. However, we currently have students undertaking voluntary work with Shpresa that is linked to their research studies.
Shpresa Programme run a range of projects that also promote the development, education, health and well-being of our community.
We also offer consultancy services to other organisations and projects who may benefit from our expertise or what we have learnt.
Currently we are going through lots of changes and have had lots of demands for our services. To meet these needs we are recruiting new staff with whom we believe will be able to increase our reach and quality of our services.
Shpresa Programme has successfully secured funding from Trust for London and Henry smith to support and raise awareness of violence against women and girls in the Albanian-speaking community. We are delighted to be working again in partnership with Solace Women’s Aid on this project
We are currently recruiting to the following positions:
Albanian-speaking Women’s Support Worker – Outreach (Female*) based in Plaistow.
We’re looking for a highly organised and self motivated woman who is passionate about ending gender-based violence.
You will work in close collaboration with Solace’s Albanian-speaking caseworker to organise a programme of workshops for Albanian- speaking refugee, asylum seeking and migrant women as well as young people and create safe spaces for them to come together to address previous and current experiences of sexual violence, and domestic violence and other forms of gender abuse/violence.
You will positively promote the project; develop different methods to reach Albanian speaking women and girls.
You will ensure that leaflets, posters and written materials are distributed widely, and to meet with and promote the service to other agencies and potential users.
You will create opportunities and enhanced referral pathway to specialist services for women leading to more autonomous and fulfilled lives including education, ESOL, positive parenting programmes, employment training, and volunteering and work experience placements.
Salary: £25,525 per annum (Pro rata)
Contract: Fixed Term 18th months
Hours: 3.5 days per week (afternoons, evening and weekend work.)

Albanian speaking Youth co-ordinator
Shpresa Programme has successfully secured funding from BBC Children in Need to offer support to Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children from across London
Albanian-speaking People co-ordinator, most of the work to take part in South London
We’re looking for a highly organised and self-motivated person who is passionate about refugees.
You will work as part of a team of sessional staff and volunteers in close collaboration with other projects and other organisation to develop a programme of activities that I is varied and interesting and that addresses the social, emotional and educational needs of UASC
You will positively promote the project; develop different methods to reach Albanian Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children
You will ensure that leaflets, posters and written materials are distributed widely, and to meet with and promote the service to other agencies and potential users.
You will create opportunities and enhanced referral pathway to specialist services for them leading to more autonomous and fulfilled lives including education, ESOL, , employment training, and volunteering and work experience placements.
You will work with UASC to raise awareness of their experiences and needs among professionals in education, social care and other related disciplines
Salary: £24108 per annum (Pro rata)
Contract: Fixed Term 3 years
Hours: 18 hours per week (afternoons, evening and weekend work.)

Albanian speaking Women’s and Training Development Worker
Shpresa Programme has successfully secured funding from the City Bridge to offer support to Albanian speaking women (refugees, asylum seekers and migrants) helping them to access Shpresa’s services and create a safe space for them to begin to address their previous and current experiences.
To work with existing women that use Shpresa’s services to improve provision for Albanian women who have survived sexual violence, trauma and domestic violence and to carry out outreach to other women who do not necessarily attend Shpresa’s services.
To set up training provision and provide English language classes for women in a safe space with appropriate support.
To develop support for women, seeking to enable them to volunteer, train, return to work or take up employment. This will include developing access to English Language classes, training, placement opportunities and advice regarding employment.
To work with women to plan a programme of activities to assist them in developing positive mental health and in accessing the English language training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
To support women including those with children to help improve their quality of life and enable them to better meet the needs of their children.
Salary: £24108 per annum (Pro rata)
Contract: Fixed Term 2.5 years
Hours: 2.5days per week (afternoons, evening and weekend work)
