TATTOOED MAN KILLED AT NORTH ACTON STATION REMAINS A MYSTERY
Police remain baffled as to the identity of a tattooed man who died at North Action station in June.
The man, who was in his mid-30s to early 40s, was killed on Saturday, 26 June 2010 at around 1.30pm after falling from a bridge on Victoria Road onto tracks. He was not struck by a train and died at the scene.
The post mortem examination concluded he died from the fall. The death is not suspicious.
Now artist’s impressions of the man and photographs of some of his tattoos are being released in a renewed bid to identify him. An e-fit image released at the end of July brought no results.
BTP coroner’s liaison officer Gary Mathias believes the man may be Eastern European, possibly Albanian, but so far extensive efforts to establish his identity have failed.
“The man has considerable tattooing all over his body and we have consulted experts in the field, who believe that some of them could probably be about 20 years old and possibly from Eastern Europe.”
An accredited police artist, one of only a handful across Britain, produced the drawings from mortuary photographs.
The man is white, between 5’10” and 6 foot tall, with short, dark, receding hair, facial stubble and brown eyes. He is of slim build thought to be between 35 to 40 years old. Amongst his numerous tattoos are dragons on his chest and left shoulder, and tribal designs on both upper arms. He also has an image of a dark-red bird on his right shoulder.
When he fell, he was wearing a dark blue jacket, khaki trousers and black canvas shoes.
“We’ve tried fingerprints, DNA and the missing persons bureau, but so far without result,” said Gary. “This man may be someone’s son, brother or father and it’s important we identify him.”
Anyone with any information that can assist the investigation into the incident is asked to call British Transport Police free on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background incident 261 of 26 June 2010.
